Golf is finally relaxing, and casual golf attire is more widely acceptable than ever. You don’t always have to wear a tucked-in polo, dedicated golf shoes and fancy pants or shorts to the course anymore. We even see hoodies on the PGA Tour regularly these days, a trend we would never have believed just 10 years ago.

Relaxed dress codes that allow a more casual look on the golf course means it’s easier than ever to pick one all-day outfit that works just as well off the golf course as it does on the course. From crewneck sweatshirts, all-day pants, and vests to shoes that you can transition from the office to the course to happy hour, here’s your guide to casual golf attire for men and women.

TRUE Linkswear is at the forefront of casual golf wear that works on and off the course. They’re so committed to that cause that they even specialize in golf shoes built for all-day wear (we’ll get to that a little later).

The quarter-zip is the quintessential golf layer, every player has one (or 10) in their closet, but they always seem to scream golfer

This All Day Q-Zip from TRUE doesn’t scream anything. Instead, it lets its minimalist style and low-key branding do the talking.

Still, it’s packed with features golfers will appreciate on and off the course. The UPF 50+ sun protection is a game-changer for days on the course. Meanwhile, the moisture-wicking, anti-wrinkle, and anti-odor materials ensure it’s up to the task from morning until night.

Why You’ll Love It:

  • Sleek style that transitions off the course easily
  • Athletic fit
  • Four-way stretch pants with elastic waistband

Casual golf attire for ladies is a tough niche. We’ve all seen examples on social media, if not first-hand, of women being unfairly held to different golf attire standards than men.

That can make it hard to pick an outfit for golf that works for the rest of the day as well. Thankfully, Bad Birdie has a vast selection of women’s golf attire, and with Bad Birdie’s laid-back attitude, it works on and off the course.

These Player Pants are 71% nylon, 29% elastane and offer the style and functionality to show up to any occasion. Meanwhile, this patterned polo looks great without taking itself too seriously.

Check out Bad Birdie’s entire collection for more styles from head to toe.

Colors: 4
Sizes: XS-XXL
Fabric: 100% Cotton Fleece

Why You’ll Love It:

  • Made from 100% cotton fleece for superior comfort and warmth
  • Embroidered logo and script for a premium finish
  • Perfect style on the course or off

I appreciate any opportunity to not wear a polo on the golf course, and as far as I’m concerned, wearing a sweatshirt means no polo necessary.

Although hoodies have officially crossed into the acceptable zone on the golf attire spectrum, I just don’t like them. The bulk, the hood, the pouch, it’s too much.

In other words, I love crewnecks on the golf course.

They look nice, they’re low-key, they’re easy to swing in, and if I know the temps aren’t going to jump too much, I can get away with ditching the polo for some truly casual golf attire.

I love this Buckets crewneck from Malbon because the logo on the chest makes it clear you have just one thing on your mind, yet it’s still small and subtle.

Made from 100% cotton fleece, it’s guaranteed to be warm and comfortable, and you can rock it just as easily off the course as you can during your round.

Style: Snapback

Why You’ll Love It:

  • If you love dogs, you’ll love this hat
  • Unique design
  • Vented construction for breatability

Sometimes the simplest things are the best things. Sure, if you stretch it, there’s a golf connection with this bird dog hat, afterall, we’re all hunting birdies when we’re on the golf course. But if you want to avoid looking like you’re always moments away from heading to the first tee, this hat needs to replace your Titleist script lid that screams “GOLFER” in a way that’s anything but casual.

We love this hat because we love dogs (and unique style) but Waggle made it hard to single this one out. There are dozens of really cool, casual designs that don’t announce to the world that you’d rather be on the golf course (even though we don’t blame you if you would).

Price: $150-199

Why You’ll Love Them:

  • Variety of colors to fit anyone’s style
  • Excellent traction for outdoor activities
  • Zero drop comfort
  • Wide toe box

We mentioned earlier that TRUE Linkswear specializes in golf shoes that you can wear all day, on the course or off. I tested these Zero Drop OG Cush everywhere from the golf course to walking the dog throughout the neighborhood, and I’d recommend them to anyone looking for golf shoes that aren’t just golf shoes.

Still, I wouldn’t be doing TRUE justice if I didn’t mention that just about any of their shoes work as well off the course as they do on the course.

If you like the natural feel that a zero drop shoe offers, or if you’re eager to check it out for yourself for the first time, this is a great option.

Beyond the zero drop construction, the OG Cush features a wide toe box that helps deliver maximum comfort and a natural feel.

True Zero Drop OG Cush Life-Tested Review

Keeping It Casual

Golf is becoming more relaxed, more casual.

Maybe that trend hasn’t quite hit the fanciest, most private courses quite yet (or maybe it has, I wouldn’t know), but check out any course where the greens fees are $50 or less, and you’ll notice plenty of signs of a more laid back game.

Casual golf attire, outfits that aren’t assembled only for the golf course, are just part of the trend.
