I play here often and have for almost 20 years. Its in fine shape and the price is very good. Weekdays no tee times are needed. Driving range is off mat or grass and very flat. Bonus is finding proV1's in most every bucket. Bring food and drink cause they have nothing really. Hit it hard.

I played Fairmont for the first time this past weekend during a very breezy afternoon. The course is in fair shape for a Parks & Rec facility, but it is decent value for the length. Accuracy is key at this course since the greens are fairly small - which makes your approach shot even more important. Most tee boxes were in good shape (#3 was under re-seeding & had to use Whites). The Green on #6 was particularly beat and probably needs further rehab. Stay in the fairway on #7, avoid the trees on the right. Very flat course, perfect to walk - bring your pull cart. Even though the course has been reopened, I wouldn't necessarily say the course has been renovated. The clubhouse and snack bar were freshly painted but the course needs more work. A few more growing seasons & proper maintenance would benefit this course. Fairly priced from green fees ($12 Weekend Walking), to range balls ($5 Medium), to snacks ($5 Sandwich & Drink). A good practice track where you can focus on your game and not the course. A drinking fountain on the course would be a great addition.
Course closed January 2013 for renovation (city had to evict the company running the course for unpaid rent, lack of maintenance etc). Parks Dept are working hard to clean it up. They hope to have the driving range open by Memorial Day and the full course before Labor Day. Good news for everyone who's loved this course over the years. Stay tuned !
