We have been back in the San Diego area visiting for two weeks after a three year absence....have played 6 golf courses...this was one of the worst...but I must say only two others would stand a chance of our return. The quality of golf here, in general, is terrible.Well, I should have guessed it but now after attempting to have an enjoyable round it is confirmed....another poorly run American Golf managed(loose term) course. Don't waste your money.Waited for 20 minutes to sign in...clerk at the desk couldn't figure how to handle a customer's account. Three other employees standing around with their hands in their pockets.$10 for one medium range bucket...outrageous. Grass tees but they had not been moved in days...looked like a backhoe had been there...previous tee box areas had not been sanded.Got to the first tee...and waited 20 minutes to tee off while a foursome putted out...complained to the started...he said they would talk to the group...by the 7th hole they were almost 2 holes behind the foursome in front of them.golf cart then quite on the 7th fairway...it took them 30 minutes and two cell phone calls to get a replacement cart. Excuse was they don't have enough employees. When I went to apply the brakes on the replacement cart....my wife and I almost crashed into our son's cart stopped ahead of us....they didn't work.Had to replace that cart at the turn...now 3 1/2 hours after teeing off. Our request was meet with disgust from the pro shop. They needed to test the cart....I told them I would be happy to lawyer up....that motivated them. Got to the 11th tee box finally...4 groups on the hole. That was now 4 1/2 hours from our tee time....12:45 pm tee time and now it was 4:15...enough... we left and will never return!
I would never play here again. Booked a 12:07 tee time and didn't tee off until 12:40. Because of that, we couldn't finish 18 holes. It seems they let several groups play ahead of us for some reason, perhaps they were "members" with special privileges. In any case, it was annoying. Very slow pace of play. Lots of inexperienced golfers at this course. Unrepaired ball marks all over the place. $3 for a Gatorade at the snack bar. Pure muni golf, but not cheap. Would much rather play Torrey Pines.
