Look good, feel good, play good.

If you buy into that mantra, then maybe you can convince yourself that Whiskers Golf Laces can improve your golf game, but let’s not kid ourselves. Whiskers laces fall into the refreshing category of golf products that don’t promise to transform your game. They only aim to improve your style.

If you’re wondering why there’s a brand dedicated to upping your lace game, and how you can pull them off, we’ve got all the answers you’re looking for.

What Are Whiskers Laces?

Shoelaces have traditionally been designed to blend in, not stand out. Whiskers Laces, on the other hand, do the opposite. They allow golfers to customize their golf shoes with laces that come in pretty much any color and style they can imagine.

Replacing the original laces with colored laces is a quick way to breathe new life into your shoes. In fact, that’s one of the selling points Whiskers highlights.

People are quick to add a new pair of shoes to their wardrobe simply because they like the style. But replacing gently worn shoes with brand new ones on a regular basis is wasteful. You could give those same gently worn shoes a quick wipe-down and a new pair of laces and still end up with fresh shoes with a completely different look.

Whiskers Laces: $14.99 | CHECK AMAZON | CHECK WHISKERS

We got our hands on three sets of Whiskers Flat Ticked Athletic Golf Laces, and laced up a pair of black and white ECCO Biom H4s. The neutral color scheme of the shoes provided a nice canvas for the Whiskers laces to do their thing.

The laces come wrapped on a wooden spool, a nice touch that the kind of detail-oriented golfer who upgrades their laces will appreciate. The spool serves as a storage unit for your benched laces. That way you can easily sub them back in without losing them. The laces themselves are made of a poly/nylon weave, and are made in the U.S.A.

Whiskers Laces come in all colors, styles, and sizes. You can opt for flat, oval, or round laces in athletic (longer) or classic (shorter) lengths. Color schemes range from popular team color combos to solids and ticked patterns. Whatever color or color combo you need, Whiskers probably has it.

Even though golf shoes are an ideal canvas for Whiskers Laces, Whiskers also offers laces designed for dress shoes, boots, and sneakers.

Freshening up your golf shoes – or any shoes for that matter– with colored laces is easy, but that doesn’t mean you can blindly pair any laces with any shoes and any outfit and pull off the look.

When you’re replacing neutral laces with colored ones, you need to consider how they’ll look on the shoe, how they’ll look with your outfit, and how you’re going to tie it all together.

The first step is to make sure the new laces coordinate with the color scheme, style, and design of the shoe. The idea behind Whiskers is to create contrast and personality, so you’re not looking for the new laces to blend in, but you don’t want them to clash, either. Use your best judgment, and maybe a significant other or trusted friend, to tell you whether your lace-and-shoe combination works.

Once you’ve found a combo of laces and shoes that you like, it’s a good idea to make sure it works with your outfit. Coordinating another accessory, like a golf hat, with the laces can be an easy way to tie together the whole look.

The Trend Towards Color

There’s a growing trend of adding color to golf accessories that have traditionally been bland. Colored ferrules are becoming more and more popular these days, as are colored and patterned grips and gloves. Shoelaces are simply another avenue for golfers to personalize their on-course look.
