Titleist Pro V1 doesn't need an introduction. It's the most-played ball on professional tours worldwide and has been the standard-bearer for premium golf balls since the turn of the century.
It’s been proven that Pro V1 gives plenty of pros the performance they need to play their best. But we wanted to see how that performance translates for the rest of us. So we tested Pro V1 against 42 other current balls for 2026.
We’re not second-guessing what Pro V1 does for elite players. We’re looking to see what everyday golfers should actually expect from arguably the most popular golf ball on planet Earth.
Our results are, perhaps, not too surprising. Elite stopping power and plenty of greenside control that comes with a distance tradeoff and a price consideration.

How We Tested Titleist Pro V1
We put the Titleist Pro V1 through our published golf ball testing protocols using the SkyTrak ST Max launch monitor. That means human swings under strict bands for swing speed, impact quality, and delivery dynamics.
To see performance from tee to green, we test driver, 7-iron, and 50-yard wedge shots with each ball. Because we use human swings, not robots, our data highlights the performance differences you can actually expect to see on the course, not microscopic variances under perfect conditions.
Individual results will vary, but the patterns we see across dozens of shots are meaningful.

Titleist Pro V1 Specs, Pricing & Performance
Pro V1, like all Titleist golf balls, has a reputation for unrivaled ball-to-ball consistency. As the flagship ball in Titleist’s tour lineup and given its clout in the professional ranks, you can also assume it’s made to perform into greens, whether that’s from approach shots or short game shots around the green.
Even though we knew that going in, Pro V1’s stopping power still wowed us.
Distance was secondary, at least according to our test. But it’s what Pro V1 brings to the table from tee to green that makes it so appealing to so many players.

If you’re looking for Pro V1’s weakness, our test suggests that it’s distance. It totaled 237.6 yards in our driver test, which was four yards shorter than the average ball from our 43-ball test.
The 2,614 RPM of driver spin and mid launch profile we saw didn’t do Pro V1 any favors. But it has more distance to give if you can produce a higher launch angle. Its sibling, Pro V1x, actually produced about five yards more distance in our test despite higher spin simply by launching higher and peaking about 10 feet higher.
In other words, just because Pro V1 didn’t produce top-tier distance for us, doesn’t mean it won’t for you.

Want to know why so many players who get paid to play good golf choose Pro V1? Our test makes it clear: it puts complete control into the player’s hands when it comes to hitting shots into the green.
Pro V1 showed high spin, a high peak height, steep descent angle, and the shortest rollout – just 6.4 yards – of any ball in our test.
That’s why it turned in the best stopping power score of all 43 balls in our field. If you need an approach shot to stop on a dime, this is as good as it gets in our testing.

Pro V1 backed up its impressive performance in our iron test with another stellar showing in our wedge control test, showing it suits players who want control into the green from virtually any distance.
From 50 yards it produced 6,798 RPM of spin and a 32.6-degree launch, holding rollout to just 2.0 yards. That was one of the better wedge numbers in our field. Even though it wasn’t quite the outright best in this category, its strong showing combined with a dominant performance with the iron makes it an attractive choice for players shopping this category of golf ball.

Pro V1's accuracy numbers show it’s a forgiving ball that better players can also work in either direction. It’s not a point-and-shoot ball that will turn slices into mere pushes, but it never spun off the golf course, either.
In our driver test it averaged 245.5 RPM of sidespin and 9.0 yards offline. With the 7-iron it showed just 64 RPM of sidespin and averaged 6.5 yards offline. Both are respectable results.
Pro V1 isn't built to fight sidespin the way some lower-spin distance balls are, but it's not a liability either.

At $57/dozen, Pro V1 is priced at the top of the market. Given that it trails many competitors in distance, even a strong performance in every other category isn’t enough to offset that top-end price and average distance showing to turn in a head-turning value score.
Pro V1 is not the ball you buy when you’re shopping for value. It’s the ball you buy when you’re shopping for quality and control into greens.
Who Is the Titleist Pro V1 For?
Pro V1 is for players who prioritize stopping power and consistency over all-out distance, and our data says no other ball we tested does it better.
If distance off the tee is what you need most, look elsewhere in our test results first. But if you want a ball that holds greens and lets you execute virtually any shot you can imagine, Pro V1 remains the standard that the rest of the industry is still chasing.
