Jessica and Nelly Korda were both born in Bradenton, Florida. Jessica is the eldest of the siblings as she is five years older than Nelly. You could say that the Korda sisters were destined for the professional spotlight. Their parents, Petr Korda and Regina Rajchrtová were both professional Czech tennis players. Peter Korda won the 1998 Australian Open and Rajchrtová represented the Czech Republic at the 1998 Summer Olympics.

Jessica and Nelly have one sibling, Sebastian Korda, who is the youngest of the three. He was born on July 5, 2000, and it should come as no surprise that Sebastian also has a sports background as a professional tennis player. Sebastian won the 2021 Emilia-Romagna Open and reached an ATP singles ranking of 30th in May of 2022, his best to date.

The Korda family spent most of the year in the U.S, passing their summers in the Czech Republic.

Jessica is the older of the Korda sisters and is a veteran of the LPGA Tour. Jessica set herself up for a successful professional golf career after some great accomplishments as an amateur.

Jessica Korda was part of the 2009 U.S. Junior Solheim Cup and the 2010 U.S. Curtis Cup teams and even made the cut at the 2008 U.S. Women’s Open where she shot the only round in the 60s on Sunday. She went on to make the cut in 2009. In 2010, Jessica finished runner-up in the U.S. Women’s Amateur where she lost 2-and-1 to Danielle Kang.

Korda turned pro in 2010 and her rookie highlight was finishing 19th at the Avnet LPGA Classic. Jessica saw the tide turn in 2012 when she posted her first win at the Women's Australian Open, the first event of the season. She won in a heavy-hitting playoff that included Stacy Lewis and Brittany Lincicome.

In total, Jessica Korda has six professional wins, all of which on the LPGA Tour. She has flirted with major championship contention. She has nine top-10 major finishes so far, including a 2nd place finish at the 2022 Chevron Championship.

Jessica married boyfriend and fellow pro golfer, Johnny DelPrete on December 11, 2021.

Nelly Korda is the younger sister of Jessica by five years and turned professional in 2016. Thus far, she has had a decorated pro career which was preceded by an equally impressive amateur career. When she was just 14, Nelly made the cut at the 2013 U.S. Women’s Open. 2015, in particular, was a magical year for Nelly as she won the Harter Hall Invitational, the PING Invitational, and was a AJGA Rolex Junior All-American. To cap-off that year, Nelly was a member of the 2015 U.S. Junior Solheim Cup.

After turning pro, Nelly Korda competed on the Symetra Tour and won the 2016 Sioux Falls GreatLIFE Challenge, which was her first professional event. The win earned her an LPGA card in 2017. Her first LPGA win came at the 2018 Swinging Skirts LPGA Taiwan Championship.

Nelly had continued success in 2019 and 2020 with more wins and high finishes, but 2021 was her marquee year to date. Korda finished the LPGA season with four wins, including her first LPGA major, the Women’s PGA Championship where she cleared the field by three strokes. In August of 2021, Nelly won a gold medal for the U.S. at the Summer Olympics (the first for the U.S. since 1900). Korda went on to finish the 2021 season ranked No. 1 in the Rolex Rankings.

After 29 weeks ranked as the top player in women’s golf, Nelly Korda lost her top spot in January of 2022. Shortly after, she announced that she had a blood clot in her arm and took time off to heal. She came back at the 2022 U.S. Women’s Open and finished tied for 8th.

What's Ahead for the Korda Sisters?

Jessica and Nelly Korda are only the third pair of sisters to both win on the LPGA Tour (Moriya/Ariya Jutanugarn and Charlotta/Annika Sörenstam). With both sisters a threat to win on any given week on the LPGA Tour, we can certainly look to have exciting times ahead as long as they’re playing. One interesting note is that Jessica and Nelly were paired together in the 2019 Solheim Cup but lost their match. Something they will surely look to avenge in future team matches.
