List of Vardon Trophy Winners
While winning one of golf's four major championship ranks highest on any professional golfers list of priorities, there are a number of other highly sought after awards. While championship wins celebrate an achievement over four rounds of golf, The Vardon Trophy celebrates consistent excellence throughout the entire PGA Tour.
The Vardon Trophy is awarded by the PGA of America (not the PGA Tour) to the golfer with the lowest scoring average who has played 60 or more rounds during the season. Named for the great British golfer Harry Vardon, a golfer who won the British Open an unmatched six times, it was first awarded in 1937.
Throughout its history, the PGA of America has adjusted the minimums required for players to be eligible for the Vardon Trophy. The current 60-round minimum has been in place since 1988. From 1980-1987 there was an 80-round minimum.
