South African golfer Branden Grace made his professional debut in 2007 at the Telkon PGA Championship on the second-tier Sunshine Tour in Australia. He played only a handful of events on the Sunshine and European tours in 2008 before joining both tours for full-time play in 2009. He finished tied for 43rd at his first British Open in 2009.

European Tour

Though he made the cut in only one event in 2008, Grace has had much more success in 2009, finishing tied for sixth at the South African Airways Open. He also has two other Top 20 finishes. Grace earned his European Tour card by finishing 28th at Qualifying School in 2008.

Sunshine Tour

Grace got his Sunshine playing card by finishing 21st at Q School in 2008 and had five top 10 finishes through August 2009. His best finishes were second at the Africa Open Golf Challenge and third at the Nashua Masters.

Amateur Career

Grace had a successful amateur career, during which he won the prestigious 2006 South African Amateur Stroke Play Championship. The victory resulted in an invitation to play in the 2007 South African Airways Open, where he finished as the second-low amateur.

Statistics

A fairly long hitter, Grace averages about 290 yards off the tee and takes about 1.78 putts per hole. He struggles with accuracy, hitting only 55 percent of fairways in regulation on the European Tour in 2009.

Born in Pretoria, South Africa, on May 20, 1988, Grace is a sports fan and movie buff. Grace currently lives in George. Grace's family has a history of playing golf and his fluid swing has gained compliments from South African golf legend Gary Player.
