The longest hole in golf stretches deep into the South Korean countryside. It is, remarkably, “only” a par-7 and is the 3rd hole at the Gunsan Country Club's Public Course in the North Jeolla Province. The course is one of Korea’s largest, with 81 holes of golf available, and was constructed on what was once a huge salt field. Gunsan features a staggering amount of water on the course, with almost 30% of the 1,060 acre property underwater and 29 bridges in use to connect different holes. The par-7 stands at 1,097 yards and is the current longest hole in golf, a record first smashed by Japan’s Satsuki Golf Course at 964 yards before being usurped by Marquette, Michigan’s 1,007 yard par-6 at Chocolay Downs. Gunsan now holds the record by a clear 90 yards.
