I'm the Pro Shop Manager at the Fairmont Field Club the last two reviews are untrue as there is no Joseph Wood that even works here, and there has been no change to our rates they have actually dropped for public play to encourage it more. The course is on its way back and I would recommend everyone to give a try if you would like a challenging and fun course to play on the public days.
Recently I've read that this facility is under new management. As of Late February, 2017, Mr. Joseph Woods was appointed as the club's general manager. Checking the FFC's own website, it indicated that the club's restaurant and snack bar were closed down since May 1, 2017. I'd appreciate a more recent update as to the status of this facility.
The course is under new management and includes members who are less than thrilled to have the public playing their course. The conditions of this course used to be outstanding for a 9 hole, but it has gone significantly downhill in one season. Fairways have not been upkept, lots of distress on and around the greens and tee boxes are in bad shape. The rates have been increased significantly and leads to very little value. If you are going to play, play after 2 on the weekends or during the week. Unless some significant methodologies and attitudes change from the members and board, this course will more than likely close in a year or two.
Nice course, short and hilly. Conditions are good. This is a country club that takes some outside play for a very reasonable fee. It's 100 years old and fun to play.
