According to their website, the clubhouse is scheduled to get a much-needed upgrade (as in demolish and build new), but it was adequate in an early-1980s sort of way. Staff was friendly, lunch and beverage prices weren't bad, and check-in experience was good. Marshall passed by 3-4 times during our 4-hour round, cart gal came by once, and there was an ice chest with fresh ice and cold water at the turn. At the time of this review, Texas is in the grip of a severe drought and it looks like the maintenance team is having to do a LOT of watering. Fairways, greens and tee boxes were all in good shape, but just off the fairway there were inch-wide cracks in the ground. Other areas had small pools of standing water and mud. Overall, this is a good and challenging course with water in some surprising and somewhat hidden places. Homes are not too close to the fairway in most cases and some holes have some really severe dog legs. Price was high, considering the "average" quality ($38 for week-day, 1pm tee time). Given other nicer courses in the area at/below $30 per round, I probably won't be back unless the price drops $10-12. While El Dorado is a better course at this golf club, the $48 price point for a week-day afternoon tee time is crazy in my opinion.
