All these reviews prior to the era before 2019 are not inaccurate but are outdated. I use this course weekly year round and the service, golf conditions, and mgmt attitudes are welcoming and outstanding. The Lakes Course was not built in 2020. It was re-opened after a $4M update/restoration of the tee grounds, greens, cart paths and fairway turf. The refinements were subtle and made the course fairer and aligned with golfing expectations. Chronically muddy areas in green throats were dried up, green quality improved, and tee boxes streamlined and leveled. The whole thing makes sense now. It is my preferred walkable course in DFW. Matt and Julie are top quality people. Damn lucky to have had them choose to takeover this facility. They have brightened up everything about the operations and their DNA shines thru in my dealings with every staff member over there. I used to think of Indian Creek as a dark place and somehow it was under the previous control, but those days are over and it has become a 2nd home for me on golf days.

This is a difficult course. 18+ handicappers should definitely play from the reds for a challenge.

As an estimated 36 handicapper, I always tee it forward and found this course very difficult managing only a single bogey and not even one par on my round.

I did however enjoy it much more than other Texas courses. I would even say it is the finest course I've played in Texas aside from the Rawls Course in Lubbock.

The course is made up of tree-lined fairways and plenty of bunkers and water hazards on many holes(it's called lake for a reason). The challenge is fair though, with a few short par 4 holes and reachable par 5s.

The front 9 plays very tight, with narrow fairways and mostly dogleg par 4s. In fact, I couldn't even hit driver until the 3rd hole par 5.

Overall though, the course was very fun. Despite shooting a 134, I had one of the best round of my life. Shooting a double bogey on the #2 handicap hole 16 was one of my favorite holes. A long par 4 with water hazards down both sides, it was nice to hit the green in 3 shots(blew it by 3 putting however).

I recommend this course for golfers seeking a challenging course or those who like to play something with more variety than their local flat municipal.

The only negatives I can think of are that the greens are quite variable and the fairways are bumpy, as another reviewer mentioned. The green speed really bothered me, because it seemed inconsistent from hole to hole. I am normally an excellent putter averaging 2.4 putts per hole. On this course I seemed to be 3 putting most of the holes and even 4 putting on some.

Still, the positives outweigh the negatives and the prices are reasonable for a nice course such as this one.

100+ degree weather and they wouldn't let you bring a cooler with ice and water in it. They force you to buy 6 drinks in order to "borrow" one of their coolers. And to top it off the guy who got onto us about it was a bit rude about it.

As far as the course goes, the fairways were terrible. I thought the golf cart was going to break apart going over all the uneven fairway ground. Also the greens were pretty much like putting through sand.

You won't see me back at this course again, especially when they won't even allow people to bring a cooler with ice and water in it. That is just ridiculous.

We played on a very cold morning and we practically had the whole course to ourselves. There are water hazards everywhere and stratigically placed bunkers. A few of the holes are straight forward but alot of them have you thinking. Plenty of dog legs and lots of trees on the sides of the fairway that punish bad shots. I'm pretty new to golfing but this has been one of the best courses in Dallas that I have played.
