I played Rocky Knolls in July '12 and the course was in good shape. Maintenance was going on all around but the tee boxes were a little long for my taste. The course played well with some greens of all size with a lot of slope. the fairways were narrow and tree lined. A great scoring course if you are straight from the fairway. I enjoyed the layout of the course, my favorite holes were 2 & 3.The clubhouse is old and run down but the staff was very nice. Walkers on the course can slow the pace down a lot.
I live in Colorado but have played Rocky Knolls for 25 years and always enjoy it. It has tight tee shots and is target golf to the smallish greens. Did I say it has beautiful scenery? I’ve taken 40+ people there and everyone always comments what a fun course it is to play. As it’s a fairly high altitude course the conditions vary in spring and fall. If you require pristine greens whenever you play, you should go to lower elevation, more expensive courses. Hole #1 requires a well placed tee shot and second shot to clear the gap between the rocks and have any chance for a good score. It’s no country club, but for those who want smile their way around, check this one out.
Had a good time, never checked previous reviews until after I played and was surprised by them. Everyone was very cordial and eager to help. Played many other courses in the area, and this one was comparitively priced. Greens in great shape and overall course was in good condition. I guess... One bad review every year out of the hundreds that must play this course isn't bad.
