The Witch Golf Club

AWESOME course that will challenge all of your skills. Magnificent scenery. BUT...upon arriving we were told that our tee time had been switched to the day previous on Witch's sister course(Man O War)Also, were told that we should have been there to tee off 88 minutes earlier to meet the tee off time that they had changed on us. At tee #1 a total of 20 players, who had shown up 1 HOUR late for their tee time were backlogged. On the back nine, we were told by both a ranger as well as the assistant manager to hurry up as 2 holes in front of us were open. Irritated? Yes. Disgruntled? No. I just don't feel that we should have been made to rush due to having quick players in front of us and a horde of 20 more behind us pushing us along. The Witch totally screwing up our tee times added to the irritation. I'd HIGHLY recommend this course. I will play it again. I also will most certainly LOUDLY complain if the pace of play progresses like the aforementioned "Gong Show". If The Witch wants to keep players moving along smoothly, they need to be fully cognizant of THEIR errors that create player backlogs and not rush others due to THEIR error. Unless circumstances really REALLY merit it, The Witch should avoid this "push 'em thru" mentality, common on many Grand Strand courses. It seems to be the number one complaint among tourists golfing here. gps systems on carts would certainly help keeping the pace moving by indicating pace-of-play time. Crown Park has 'em, and it's a humble little (albeit great) Hwy 9 course. Aside from these frustrations, this was a great course. Give The Witch a try.

Played the course Feb 24 as part of our annual week-long golf package via Island Vista Resort. Course was in FANTASTIC shape. I may not have played all that well, but enjoyed the course. This was my second time playing here, and it was every bit as good as the first. My only dislike is that they do not serve liquor. Plenty of Yuengling, though!
