A very well maintained 9 hole course that offers fantastic views of the Jamestown bridge. It is a relatively simple course when calm, but can get much more difficult when the winds gust off the bay. Pace of play can be an issue, as the course is usually very busy. It would be tough to find a better nine hole course in RI!
Nice, well maintained, wide open course.Played Jamestown's 9 holes on a Monday morning. Jamestown is a standard Par 36 course with your standard two par 3s, two par 5s and five par 4s. The course is wide open. It would be very, very difficult to lose your golf ball here. It makes it easy to recover from bad tee shots. The course has a mixture of easy and difficult holes. Two of the par 4s are easy at 300 yards and under from the back tees. Two more par 4s are much more difficult at over 400 yards. One par 5 is a tough, 541 yarder with a deceptively sloping green. The course measures 3,058 in total from the back tees. The pace of play was quite slow on this Monday morning. It took 2 1/2 hours to play Jamestown's 9 holes. Ouch. After this round, I drove to Meadow Brook and played its 18 holes in only 3 hours. There is a small grill and bar inside. The young lady behind the bar made me an excellent cheeseburger. The cost to play on this Monday morning was quite reasonable - $18 to walk its 9 holes. To play 18, it only cost $28. One thing - if you do play 18, they do not give you priority coming around the turn - if there is a backup, you need to get in line and wait your turn to tee off.The course was in very good shape. Greens were in good shape and ran smooth. Fairways were also in good shape. There is a bit of rough, but it is not very penal if you do find yourself in the rough. In summary, a nice reasonable round of golf. Beware of slow play though.
This old links course is very well maintained and its a nice setting when you only have time for nine holes. The clubhouse has a bar and that's it. Green fees: $18 for 9 holes. I am a beginner and I enjoy playing here when I can. The only drawback is it can get busy on the weekends and that will slow your momentum.
Sweet public course. Great scenery(bridge, water, hills, dales, fancy homes), Nicely landscaped, Good variety to layout. All in all: an enjoyable round!
