Sleepy Hollow is fairly singular for its 19th hole but that's hardly the entire story. You look at the scorecard to see 2240 yards on the front side from the tips and a total of 5600 yards in toto, even with the 19th at 403. What to do? Play the tips of course! With the exception of one hole on the front (the 4th, I believe) it's driver to within 30-40 yards of the pin then knock it on to get par or better. The 4th calls for a 6 or 7 iron to play short and left of water. Speaking of water, the 3rd green is nicely framed by a small lake... attractive hole from about 160! I cruised on the front in good time and with a good score. Nice conditions for play. Then the ride through the woods to 10 tee and the character of the course changes completely. 10 is a 500 yard par 5... about 200 yards longer than anything on the front. The par 3s are about as long as the 3s on the front but much more challenging! Out back, the grass is different, the holes are longer, sand is more abundant. Two par fours are under 400 (13 at 385 and 17 at 398), while the longest on the outward 9 was 306. The back is more heavily wooded too. At 12, I got myself excited with a tee ball to 1'!! On the back side, my approach distance was about 170 yards on average, in part due to a popped up drive on 16. On the front, it was 100. The 19th is NOT a beer hole. It is a legit 403 yards par 4 that works up a slight incline. Greens were immaculate and average speed... maybe 8 or 8.5. I had a good time and I'm hoping you will too.
