The trees are mature and there are plenty of rolling hills that bring some interest to the course. The fairways are well maintained but the greens seem a little neglected. Many of the greens are very small and sandy which causes issues when trying to putt.Speaking of sand, there are no sand or water hazards on the course. The natural bends and breaks of the layout provide enough challenges to make the round interesting.A few of the holes run adjacent to the highway, but there is enough distance that you don't have to worry about errant shots going into the road.Clayton Park is a short par-30 course that measure right at 1,600 yards. There is just one set of tees, so all golfers play from this distance. The longest hole is the 270-yard ninth hole, one of three par-4 holes on the course. Given the short holes and affordable green fee, the course is a great choice for families, kids, seniors and new golfers. Low handicap golfers can use the course to practice their irons and short game. The staff is also very friendly and helpful. There are no amenities at this course, but it does provide an enjoyable round if you know what is in store. The value can't be denied. Essentially, you can play 18 holes for the about the same price as hitting balls at a driving range.
This course is a gem. Yes the greens are sandy, yes the only "amenity" they have is a soda machine, but for what equates to $1 per hole it CAN'T BE BEAT. Perfect for beginners as most of the golfers there are impressed with a shot that just stays straight.
This course is nice for a beginner like myself. The price is great, will come back again.
