Carlisle Barracks Golf Course is a good, basic golf course for a practice round. It’s very affordable and there are a few challenging holes.

Make sure to ask for the Veteran’s discount. Otherwise, green fees are still very reasonable at $13 for weekdays and $20 for Friday through Sunday.

The course is flat, open and dotted with a few trees. It’s not really scenic, but it gets the job done for what it is. There are 3 tee boxes. The biggest challenge on this course is the long holes. Most of them are 350 yards plus with straight fairways (bring your driver.)

A good score is definitely within reach at Carlisle Barracks golf course. The round starts of with the longer hole #1, sitting at 576 yards from the blue tee. Here’s a few things you’ll want to watch out for on the more difficult holes. Hole #3 (318 yards) is a blind shot that doglegs left and you’ll find two sand traps on the left. Hole #17 (570 yards) doglegs left with a sand trap on the left. You’ll find a large wrap-around greenside bunker on #11 (168 yards.)

A few notes about the condition and amenities. The condition of the course is above average for a public course. The fairways and the greens shouldn’t get in the way of a good score. This is also a great course to walk. There is a pro shop and cart rentals, but no club rentals. There’s a modest clubhouse offering light snacks and beverages. Sit on the porch outside to enjoy the 19th hole. Rounds are limited to 4.5 hours, so the pace of play is good here.

Carlisle Barracks is a good option for a straightforward round of golf. It meets the standard for an average 18 hole public course.

The course is a flat, boringly simple, and unimaginative layout. Good for a fast cheap round for beginners. It's setup for inexpensive maintenance 1st and enjoyment 2nd.
