The course is semi private but was in terrible condition, especially with the cost of the green fees. All the fairways was like hitting off hardpan with many bare spots and the sand traps were dirt. Some of the holes had poor signage for direction and the water at the water stations tasted like chlorinated tap water. It seemed like young people were managing the complex and it took 10 minutes to get a hot dog on the run and it wasn't busy. Also there was no bag drop or attendant and no ranger to keep pace of play.
I'm biased, but it's greatI worked here for three and a half years, and this course was always a challenge. I've played Oak Tree, and TPC Sawgrass, and this one is up there. Don't let the yardage fool you, it is sneaky. Forced layups and super narrow fairways make 6300yds feel almost like 7000. Miss the right part of the fairway out here and you won't like what you have. There are some huge greens here, and when they are rolling well, which they often are, they are TOUGH. Number nine is called the shortest par five in Norman by the members, because many can't reach it. If you think it's easy, move back to the tips. Number 16 is one of the toughest par 3's I've ever played. This course never lets up, so bring your patience, and your humility. It is beautiful, but it has a big bite. Play here a few rounds and everywhere else feels wide open. I will always love this course.
