This course plays pretty fast and good course to walk. The owners have made a lot of improvements to fairways and cart paths. Seems to be better every time we play. Great outdoor food and beverage area and so convenient at the turn.
I played this course recently, and I have mixed feeling about the place. On one hand, the course had an interesting layout. It's a par 73, so the are three par 5s on the front nine. Many of the holes have some kind of bend, so it's not a course you can easily bomb and gouge. There is some water, but not a ton. The greens are also challenging, with a good deal of elevation changes on most of them.Unfortunately, the condition of the course is a bit lacking. The fairways on many of the holes are in rough shape. Bare patches and weeds mean that even if you hit a great drive, your second shot might not have the best lie. It's been a rough season, with very little rain, but even so this was worse than most of the other courses I played this year. Many of the water hazards were covered in green slime too.I know they've spent a lot of money updating the banquet hall in the past few years. Hopefully they'll work on the course itself next. The most disappointing thing was seeing how the staff was treating the guests. The woman in the pro shop (the owner, perhaps?) was yelling at golfers for taking too long to play their rounds. That was surprising. The course wasn't very busy, and we never waited at any hole. In fact, it seemed like pace of play was pretty smooth. We didn't see anyone waiting. Surely that could have been handled differently. It certainly didn't leave me with a good feeling about the course.
This course has come a long way. I remember when it was Riverview Country Club and it was a dump. The new owners have done a nice job building a nice reception hall and restaurant and are using that money to improve the course. The layout is great and they've added drainage so its not as wet as it used to be. The greens are tough and the 3s are all 200+. You can also buy single cans of beer in the pro shop, which is hysterically awesome.
