The Pehquenakonck Golf Course is a challenging but fun nine-hole course that is worth checking out.Located north of New York City in the suburb of North Salem, this course is a surprising gem that comes at a great value. Given the day, you can play the nine-hole course twice – there are two sets of tees for variety – with a cart for under $30. Walk the course and play for about $1 per hole. The layout of the course is interesting and actually fairly challenging for a nine-hole public course. None of the holes run side by side so you always have a nice, private feeling while playing. The unique layout isn't as intuitive as a traditional course so you might have a little trouble finding your way around the first time you play. The staff is very friendly and will help you with some pointers before you tee off.The Pehquenakonck Golf Course was built in 1923 and has been very well maintained given its age. The bunkers could use a little TLC, but the fairways and greens are in good shape. Anybody can play at Pehquenakonck, including kids and beginners, but the course is not easy. The holes are mostly straight, but there are many elevation changes. The first hole has an elevated green and several others cross over a road. Watch out for traffic! The value, nice upkeep and great hospitality are some of the reasons you will want to check out the Pehquenakonck Golf Course. Visit once and it's likely you'll be back for another round.
First course I ever played at. didn't do bad, course was nice and not intimidating like some of the other courses I looked at. There is 2 holes to watch out for but not sure of the numbers. 1 hole is known as the volcano, straight shot to the tee, but it's elevated. you hook the ball either way, your losing it. 9th hole, almost same thing. Not a bad course for $28 for 18 (9 twice) and cart.
