On July 15, 2020 at 12:50 pm I was practicing on the practice green.

A man, green t-shirt, jeans, around 220 lbs, who said he was the sole owner of the golf course, rudely said I couldn’t practice without paying.

First time I ever spoke to the man. He had been on a blue tractor preparing the outdoor volleyball courts.

I asked if this was a public course. He said yes.

I told him I’ve practiced many times at Pine Grove GC and never “paid” to practice on the practice green. I told I’ve played the course several times. I told him this is the first public course I’ve ever been told I had to “pay” to practice on a practice green. I’ve been a regular golfer for 40 years.

You would think, after the economic damage the Covid-19 virus has caused, that a businessman/owner would treat a person he meets for the first time with above and beyond courtesy to help bring back business.

Not this clown. And I will tell every golfer I know how I was treated.

Stay away. The condition of the course makes no difference (it’s an average public course). If one’s treated this way, then take your business elsewhere, there’s at least two more public courses in Camillus, NY.

Staff at this place is a joke. The guy working the 'pro shack' was a d-bag and then some. People playing the course were friendly and allowed us to play thru many times. Course wasn't in bad shape, but the holes that bordered the roads were noticeably nicer/better kept than the interior holes. 'Open Play' policy is annoying. Course was fun to play to play once while visiting the area, but wouldn't go back.

DO NOT JOIN THIS CLUB. I had a monthly account and then stopped going to this club and they continued billing my old checking account for fees and now claim I owe months of fees. Never sent any notices or phone calls and does not reply with to EMAILS from there web site.

First off, the last reviewer is completely insane if he thinks Westvale is a better course than Pine Grove. Pine Grove has spent the last 5 years upgrading their course, making some challenging holes and turning it into more of a links style course. The course is very short, and not extremely difficult but is fun to play and still does offer some shots over water, sand, and a few narrow fairways. For the price, this is probably the most economical course in Syracuse.
