Vails Grove Golf Course in Brewster, NY is a great option for locals looking to play a quick round. It’s set amongst rolling hills and mature trees. The course originally opened in 1929. Vails Grove is a 9 hole semi-private club (open to the public but annual memberships available.)

There are 3 tees to accommodate golfers of all skill levels. All the holes are either Par 3 or Par 4, and not too challenging. You won’t find water hazards or sand traps on this course. There are a few holes that will challenge your endurance. Save your energy for Hole #9, which is the longest on the course at 467 yards.

The fairways are wide and fairly open. There are mature trees throughout the course, though, so be prepared to hit out from under trees (and over them) from time to time. Hole #2 has a particularly narrow fairway.

This course is very well-maintained, and you’ll be sure to enjoy the quick pace of play. It’s not uncommon to play two rounds of 9 back-to-back since the course is quite short. The clubhouse and the rental equipment are both in need of an update.

Vails Grove is a friendly golf course that’s perfect for beginners or experienced golfers who want to get in a quick practice round. It’s a fun, straightforward course that you’ll definitely want to return to often.

Pretty simple and short golf course.

Vails Grove is a par 32 track (for men that is - it is par 34 for women). For the men, there are 5 par 4s and 4 par 3s. Four of the par 4s are under 300 yards. The last par 4 - the 9th hole - is a big boy hole at 420 yards from the back tees.

The first three holes are simple and straightforward, then it gets progressively more interesting. The 4th hole, a par 4, features a narrow opening for your tee shot. The 5th hole is a blind shot downhill to a par 3. The 6th hole is a short par 4, but mostly uphill.

The young lady at the front desk was very friendly - it looks like a cozy place to play a round then grab a beer.

The cost for 9 holes of golf walking late in the day on Sunday was $24.

It is an easy course and a nice, quick fun round of golf. The course is easy enough to be good for beginners (its slope rating from the back tees is only an 89). The greens were in fairly good shape, especially the 9th green which was in superb shape.

In summary, an easy quick reasonable round of golf in a friendly atmosphere.
