TPC - Vegas was a delight to play; the staff got us off to a great start by sending us out early as a pair, instead of waiting for the other couple to make it a foursome. The starter gave us a few tips, as we were first time "Las Vegas" golfers. There was an oxygen cart on the course, too, for those people who weren't used to playing in 104 degree weather. The course itself was a delight; challenging, well-groomed and very much the desert course I was expecting in Nevada. It was my first TPC playing experience, so I don't have any comparisons to make, but it was certainly a great introduction. The thin air and hard fairways had me playing longer than I usual am; balls rolled all day when I was in the fairway. Greens were fast, but pretty flat with few exceptions.
Loved this course. Lots of trouble if you stray "off the course" as there are rocks and rocks and more rocks to deal with. I played for free through Golfnow.com since I had enough points. If you keep the ball in play, you will do well. If you don't, you will enjoy the course. Greens were not in the best of shape and it could have been because of maintenance. Putting was tough as it gave you no breaks. Putts had to be precise.
Absolutely a wonderful course,in my Top 5 that I have played, possibly the best, and I have played over 20 of the Golf Digest top 100. It can be difficult if you don't keep the ball in play, left and right of most fairways are dirt and rocks. Greens were quick, stimped at 11 the day I played.
