I played Reems Creek back in the early 90's when it first opened and it was just unbelievable. I was a little disappointed that the course isn’t as well maintained as it was in its early days. However, It’s a fun course to play at a good value. It’s a really unique golf course and a true mountain course with major elevation changes. Reems Creek requires you to really think about your shots. Almost every tee box and green on the whole course is elevated so it requires some strategy in getting the distances down with the slope. I played from the back tees and only hit two tee shots with a driver all day and didn’t even need to for that matter. In fact, I could have just left the driver at home. Most tee shots are no more than a 3 hybrid or long iron with 220-240 yard placement landing areas and the ball carries with the altitude. If you like to just bomb the ball and hit wedges into greens you probably won’t enjoy Reems Creek. If you enjoy playing strategy golf, you will have fun at Reems Creek. If you’re in the Asheville area it’s worth checking out!

We played on a Friday in mid-October, for the second time in about two years. Cool, windy day, so play was limited. The course was in good condition, and the greens were very nice. The course however is simply not very enjoyable to play. Felt that way the first time, but decided to give it another shot, and sorry we did. As others have noted, most lies are not flat, but more importantly, there are many "blind" shots. The result is that club choice is very frustrating, and some of your best shots turn into very poor ones, simply because you have no idea what your target is. The lack of yardage poles, makes it even more frustrating. The pro shop is very nice, and the food and service in the grill/snack bar were excellent. Sorry to say, we won't be going back.

I played this course today. It was the first course I have played this year that was actually green. It was nice to hit from fairways with some grass in them! As others have said...flat lies...keep looking..you won't find them here! I played the white tees and it was a little over 6,000 yds from the whites. The first hole is a short 305 yard Par 4. I nearly drove the green! It as to be the easiest hole on the course. It gets tougher from there. There are a LOT elevation changes. Seems like you are always going up hill or down. Despite that...I thought the fairways were generous... and the distances well marked. The greens were some of the best I have played on...so they were a treat. There are a fair number of houses lining the course...and on # 10 I managed to push my drive right...on to the roof of one of the houses. Be wary the houses can come into play. There was some water...which came into play on some holes... Despite my score...I did enjoy the course. The pace of play was fine. I was behind a 3 some...and they moved right along. It’s NOT a course to walk...unless you are part mountain goat. I will return again....and give it another go...soon!

Very nice scenery, espeially if you typically play flat "florida style" courses. Very hilly, brush up on your side hill lies. The greens and tee boxes were in great shape. The bunkers were negleted with grass growing in them. The fairways were swamps. This course should have been cart path only. And it seemed like the locals don't repair divots. Fairways need foreign grass managment. Wear waterproof shoes.
