A lot has happened here since 1911. New owner about 3 years ago. Nice clubhouse a year ago. Very significant improvements to the course are ongoing. Played there Aug. 7 and the greens and fairways are in great shape.
December 9, 2011---Very hit and miss place right now. As the review said at end of May--yes greens are good now....most of them. Excellent value for right now. Who knows when the spring/summer heat hits. I guess the best time to place this course is in the fall and spring. If you can go then, then it's worth every penny...you can't beat the price and value. But if they left the greens go again this summer, don't waste your time.May 18, 2011---Avoid this place until they spend the money to fix the greens!! You'll see my ratings below from last year, but since August of 2010 this place has went downhill fast. They were hit hard during the fall and didn't spend the moeny to fix the greens. There's more sand on most greens than grass. The fairways are still excellent, but good fairways do you nothing if you're putting through sand. This course has always been my home course, but until the fix it up, it's only worth about $10 to play. Nice folk working here....terrible greens....stay away!!!June 27, 2010---This place is an unbelievable deal. The course is as good as other local PGA courses like Rock Barn, but lacks the expensive houses so therefore it's much cheaper to play. There are nice houses on some holes, but overall you really feel like you're there to get away from the world and concentrate on playing golf. Greens are always in top shop. The only drawback is after heavy rains there are 4 holes where the fairway tends to flood. If you're looking to play golf in the Statesville area, you have to come here. It's worth every penny.
The greens are great and the course is well maintained. This is a $75 course for half that price. Not sure if there is a better value in the piedmont area. Any problems they had in the past are fixed. This is a "players layout"!
Played it for the first time, loved it. They have just reopened several holes they lost to flooding. As these holes mature this course will be first class. Best greens i've played on in several years. I will definately be back.
