I played this course yesterday with a couple of buddies. It was "Play All Day Tuesday for $25"..so it was a very good value. We played from the white tees...so it was 6,300+ yards. THe 1st hole is a steep downhill Par 5. 2 of us hit drivers and were in the water. My GPS said 273 to the water...we all hit again. THe layout as one person said was a little funky..and on many holes we drove up to see where the landing area for the drives were and if we should hit a driver or something else. On a lot of holes...you leave the driver in the bag and pull out a fairway wood or hybrid. Lots of water and lots of dog legs....both right and left. Its also pretty tight with OB stakes everywhere. There was one hole on the back nine (the hardest hole on that side) that just plain does not make sense. Its a downhill dog leg left of 382 yrds. You can;t hit a driver or you'll blow through the fairway and hitting something less leaves you a loooong shot uphill into the green. That was the only hole that I thought was poorly designed. I did enjoy the course and the dog legs didn't really bother me. You think before you hit your shots..and I like that. THe greens were also GREAT for mid winter. They were fast and took a little getting used to. Once I did...I managed to sink a couple of snakey 20 footers. For the price...I think its worth playing. It must be a favorite as it was really crowded for a day in Late January.
Everyone is correct in that you don't use driver on all holes. But honestly I feel that makes it a little more interesting. 3 of the holes have to wind around private property, so it makes it a little more difficult for those that can't hook or slice it with command. The regular price is too much for this course, but if you do the aternoon/twiligt rate, it's well worth it, $25. I wouldn't pay the regular $35 for this place. Greens are top eagle bermuda now, so it holds very well against the heat. Fairways needs to be seeded more in a few spots. Don't go out of your way to this course, but if you're in the area it's a great value. You won't be dissapointed.
