Pros: The course layout is reasonably challenging. The greens are pretty well kept and fast.

Now for the cons...

This course is pretty expensive (50$ or more for non-members)
The course is in terrible condition. You can't distinguish the fairways from the rest of the course in many places. Sometimes the fairways are just bare in spots. It hasn't been up-kept well. This may have something to do with the harsh weather the spring has had down here, but the courses in IL are half the price and 20 times better (even the worst ones i have played). I used to live in the Jackson Area and have played many courses in the area that are better (though i haven't played any of them recently to compare directly). I would never recommend this course to anyone just visiting the area. The only day i got to play golf on this trip was pretty much wasted on this course.

I went to Live Oaks for the first time about a month ago. This would truly be considered a best kept secret. It sits on Hwy 49 near Flora all by itself. Peaceful! The course is well maintained, the price was great, the cart I had was new and the grill had a great hamburger. They have plans handing on the wall and will soon be expanding the clubhouse. I really could not find anything negative about Live Oaks.

I was in the Jackson area and found this gem of a course. The course was in great condition and I met the new Owner. Very friendly staff! Easy to book a tee time. Everything was great. We had an exceptional time and will be back! 5 Stars in my book!

The course and clubhouse wasn't too bad, but I won't be back the staff was extremely rude. We had three players and two carts, one of the group left after nine holes. On the 11th fairway a staffer came out and berated us for not having two players to a cart and said we were holding up a group behind us because we took several mulligans. The group behind us was consistently a hole and a half behind and wasn't waiting on us. I don't plan to return.
