I grew up in La Crosse, WI, 30 miles from this course but now live in Silicon Valley. I'll provide an out of state honest assessment of this course.

Amenities - not fancy but fine. Good bar, excellent service and a friendly staff to be sure.

Difficulty - The front nine isn't tough but lulls you into a false sense of security and the back nine isn't easy.

Maintenance - the last time I was back to play the course it was in decent conidition. Not horrible, not spectacular.

Scenery - for a relatively flat Midwest course, it's a very pretty course. Wooded, creeks and some other water. $1,000 says locals don't appreciate the nature beauty.

Value - Living in California where couses half this nice are 2X the price with a six hour rounds due to crowds, this is an absoulte steal price-wise. I conveyed this to the guy working in the pro shop the last time I played there. He told me the locals gripe about the price. My take is; the locals need to get a sense of reality and appreciate the phenomenal course this is.
