Course was in decent shape, but not great. Lots of patches of dead grass and hard compacted dirt in rough areas. The tees were often times placed on sloped areas of the teebox....which has NEVER made sense to me how those things aren't fixed or noticed.

The course itself was definitely on the easier side. Quite a few shorter Par 5's and a VERY short Par 4 (230 yards?). Enough elevation changes to keep things interesting. Seemed like a majority of the holes were doglegs....which got repetitive. The front nine was FAR easier than the back 9. That's when you start hitting more water hazards....whereas the front was pretty dry. As a high handicapper....the difficulty level this not bother me one bit.

My main issue with today's round was the cart situation. Due to rain these past couple of days....carts were unavailable until around 10:30. Problem is that our tee time was a little before that....so by the time we were around Hole 4 or 5....we saw people buzzing around on carts. My friend who made the tee time said that he received a call at around 6:30 about the cart situation....but he was asleep and there was no message. Means that we were a little caught off-guard. Oh well....we are fit enough to walk with the help of hand carts since a few of us have large cart bags. This is where we went from a minor inconvenience to a reason for dinging the course on review. Not only were we not offered any discount for the inconvenience....but the $7 pull carts that were provided were in pretty lousy shape. Considering that there is a bit of elevation change on this course....my cart had a snapped off brake...so I had to carefully position the cart at times so that it would not roll away. Second....it appears that the straps to hold the bags to the carts were broken off or missing on THREE of the FOUR that we had. Needless to say.....I believe we had five tipovers between us which really sucks....especially if you have a drink with an open top. One of our tips cause a full drink to go all over the club heads of one of my buddies. This is pretty inexcusable. I would think that most decent courses would have a stable of well maintained pull carts. Especially if the course in question tends to pull motorized carts if the course experiences some rain.

With that said, I felt the price to golf there was pretty reasonable. Not by any means a great value....but also not too expensive for the 18. Wouldn't go out of my way to play here again....but also wouldn't write the course off completely.

To expensive, with lots of blind shots and the bar is way over priced and never there

Course is ho hum AT BEST, not really a challenging course.. Don't eat the food there, have heard stories of their cooks picking food up off the floor and serving it to people. You'd be better off finding something at a supermarket. Have personally gotten sick after eating there.

I play Valleywood often during the summer. For the price it is a good value. You can use all of your clubs on this course, with trees everywhere, water and sand traps too. Dog legs, and hills. The equipment is in good shape and the staff is friendly. Enjoy.....

This course is really terrible. Really would make a better parking lot or dog park. The only reason its interesting is allegedly the old pro used to steal, scheme and commit adultery behind the facade of a born again Christian... plus you can hit high drivers over trees on almost every hole. Pay your $50 and wear a helmet.

It is one of the best values in Minnesota. The fairways are often narrow, demanding you some precise shorts to have a good round. You should play from Gold, as you will appreciate the course fully with all risk taking decisions. For some, this may not be fun, but for many others, this is definitely a great practice course. The greens are a bit boring, as they are basically flat.
