I have started playing here again recently and feel compelled to update my review. This course has improved tremendously during the last few years. It's a nine hole layout geared toward the average golfer. Most fairways are wide, so it's pretty easy to find your ball, even if you can't hit it perfectly straight all the time. And the course is quite open, which makes it pretty easy to find shots that go off line. There are a number of longer holes that require a driver off the tee. If you like to bomb it, then this is a fun course for that. The long holes generally favor players who can fade the ball, though you don't have to be a great shot maker to play well here.Maintenance-wise, they have come a long way. The greens are in GREAT shape now - they are comparable to Bath CC and Sebasco. The grass around the greens is also excellent, and definitely lends itself to creative chip and pitch shots. The bunkers are a million times better than they used to be - the sand is softer and allows you to play true bunker shots. The fairways have been lush and green all summer long. While there are occasional firm spots, for the most part, the turf yields easily to your irons upon impact. There is also a nice practice range with grass tees if you want to tune up your swing. Kevin Joseph is the club pro there, and he is one of the finest golf instructors in the area. This is definitely not a country club. It's a golf course. They do have a bar and deck with picnic tables, but it's definitely a no-frills setup. You should come to Mere Creek if you want to play golf. The greens fees are very reasonable, and the people who play there are very nice, relaxed, and just want to enjoy playing golf. If you are more interested in socializing at the 19th hole, go somewhere else.
Fun 9 holes course to play. Enjoyed the different tee boxes from the white to the blues which made the course play different the second 9 around. Course was well maintained with decent greens. Well worth a visit.
Played 9 holes at this course today and was pleasantly surprised. I didn't set my expectations high because it had not been reviewed in 3-4 years. The course was a little wet due to the downpours we have had recently...however it was very playable and the greens were impeccable. They were perfectly groomed and firm. This was an enjoyable 9-hole round and for their fees I find it to be of exceptional value. Fun 9 holer for golfers of all talent levels.
