I called the club from the road on Sunday morning, Aug 8th, and told the woman in the clubhouse I was with my sons. She gave us a tee time for 11:30am which we arrived for promptly. A number of other groups arrived as we did. I have always found the people at Egremont a sour bunch, but when they saw I was with my young sons [10 & 8] they were even sourer. The woman in the clubhouse was only too happy to take my $100, but failed to give me a scorecard or let me know that for some reason Egremont doesn't put scorecards on the golf carts or provide extras at the second hole [first golf course I can remember not doing this in a long time]. My sons are little, but they know how to play and move it along. That didn't seem to matter. No sooner were we approaching the 2nd green then some form of ranger was sent out to tell us to move it along even though there was still someone waiting on the 3rd tee! When I asked him about the lack of scorecards at the 2nd tee he didn't offer to get me one, he just told me, "We don't do that." When he rode ahead and realized we weren't the delay, he didn't apologize, he just said, "Well, I guess you want to teach your family." As I said, I've often found the people who play and the staff at Egremont a sour, money hungry lot. For my money, I'll stick to Undermountain or Copake in the vicinity. Anywhere else really. Btw: my sons and I finished the front nine in 1:45, and there was no one behind us for at least two holes.
