Honestly, I was very impressed with this course. I have played 60+ rounds in the Boston area and finally played the William Devine course this week on an early morning weekday. I was very impressed with the conditions of the greens and the varied layout. The 'heather' or whatever tall grass off to the sides of the rough meant it was easy to lose balls in plain sight, and a few holes require local knowledge (90 degree turns that you don't know of) but for the weekday rate of $35 this was a great value. I will be going back.
Very decent course - not GREAT, but in better shape than I expected - it seems that the City of Boston is doing a good job with their two courses. Pretty wide open, you can play driver off of most tees, although a few blind tee shots with weird lines are next to impossible without local knowledge. Plenty of elevation changes and tricky greens. The greens were in great shape, and the fairways were mostly well taken care of. I'll be back.
