I have loved this muni track for 30 years. I wish that it did have some water hazards and a driving range added to it when it was renovated in the early 1980's, but all in all it is benefitted by the oversight of possibly the best groundkeeping staff of the 5 city muni courses. I like the bunkering, as it has distinct greenside lips, good clean sand and well groomed by the staff. The 'reverse' sloped greens on holes 3, 5 & 16 can be a real challenge for the uninitiated, but their short length should allow the use of a shorter more accurate club selection - just don't screw it up because they can bite back. The layout for holes 3, 4, 8, 9, 10 & 16 are also a challenge as they should require good or lucky placement to reap a reward. This course also features one of the few holes in the city with a fairway cross-bunker complex, hole # 4. This course is a great course to hone one's game (if you don't forget that escapable 'trouble' here is typically more penal on other courses).
