I have played this course pretty regularly for 13+ years(about 10-15 times a season) and 99% of the time the course is in very good shape. Now remember it is a public course and as such gets a lot of abuse from golfers who either dont know or dont care to take care of it.
The course itself is fairly open but the challenge comes from the ever-present Kansas wind. Depending on wind direction you can hit driver, 7-iron into some par 5's and hit 3-wood into par 3's.
The only complaint I would have about "the muni" is the pace of play. Weekends it is not unheard of to play a 5 1/2 or 6 hour rounds. So bring your beverages and enjoy the scenery. Most days are very nice out here, so enjoy the weather and bring a friend to talk to.
