The driving range, once an impressive water-target based range, is dilapidated to the point where it looks like a nasty swamp. The staff of high schoolers are rude, conceited, and disrespectful. I don't know where the sense of entitlement comes from working at a park district golf course. As far as the actual golf goes the course was fairly well maintained but the actual design is basically that of a par 3 course. (It really seems like the grounds crew works hard and the high schoolers in the pro shop do nothing.) I think one hole was only 75 yards long. There are no par 5 s and only two par 4 s. The prices seem like a good deal at first but be warned - you get what you pay for. At this course, in its present state, you get even less than that. The park district should clean house and hire better management for this once unique course. The young female manager on duty was so rude that other staff were apologizing for her behavior and attitude.
Only a couple of really challenging holes on this rather short but uneven executive layout. Intimidating first tee shot 200+ yds over water for the men, most difficult hole on the course. Aside from a 300 yd dogleg, 5 of the remaining holes only a little over 100 yds or so. Water in play on 3 of the holes, quite a few sand traps scattered throughout. Nice clubhouse contains snack shop and small Pro Shop, backs to recreation area on second lake for fishing and paddle boats. Also picnic area and sand volleyball. Very unique driving range lets you hit balls into lake with yardage marker buoys in the water to let you know how far you hit it.
