Good course but needs work. Price is great and better for residents. It's a fun hour an a half for practice fun play with a friend.
A very nice, and also inexpensive ($16 on Sunday), par 3 course. Certainly a beginner's course, which I will admit is good for my level of play. Some holes can be challenging at times, though nothing is too extreme. Features well placed sand traps for most holes and a couple holes with water as well. For a par 3, some of the holes are quite long and would easily be a par 4 on other courses that appeal to beginners. You'll be able to use a good range of clubs, although for a more experienced golfer I will admit there is no need to bring your woods. i find myself using my 9 iron to tee off on the shortest hole, and my 5 wood on the longest, though again a more experienced golfer may want to use a 3 iron on the longest hole. The overall feel of the course is wonderful, your right next to the beach and you'll also see planes taking off and landing nearby. Because of this, I would recommend this course to any golfer if they're just looking to spend a nice day out on the course. A very new player may find the course challenging, and a more experienced player may find it quite easy, but all players will be able to enjoy the scenery and overall feel that I mentioned above. The staff at the course can be a bit touchy, but if you are nice to them they'll be nice to you. The course tends to be busy, so if your playing as a twosome you may find yourself paired with another twosome. I will say however that if this is proposed and you object politely the staff will most likely accommodate you. I have to give this course 5 stars for value, given the low cost. It however isn't maintained well, and it is sad to see that most people do not even rake out the sand after escaping the trap. Amenities wise i will also have to score the course low, as there isn't a pro shop or clubhouse. The best you got is some water coolers at a couple holes and some tee's and balls for sale when you check in. But then again, for a 9 hole par 3 at the low cost of $16 on a sunday and less any other day of the week, it's about what you'd expect. I've played short beach regularly for the last year or so, and will continue to play there for years to come no matter how my game improves for the simple love of the feel of the course for reasons mentioned above. Great beginner course that I would recommend to anyone looking to spend a beautiful summer day out on the course.
