This is one of my favorite courses to play. I've only played from the blue tees and have found it very challenging. The greens have a lot of undulation - some have 3 tiers. Between fairways is a wispy tall fescue giving it kind of a links feel. And I definitely agree with another reviewer who said it feels like it might be on the ocean - it does kind of feel like its built on the shoreline of an angry ocean. Most holes have some noticeable elevation - some significant. With carries over deep gullies, ravines, and on #8 I think, a pretty steep, drive-able fairway (330 yds but way downhill) with some major risk green-side right. Some really nice views. There was a wedding reception on the beautiful Saturday late-afternoon I came down the 18th. A couple hundred party-goers were hanging out on the balcony of the beautiful stone club house just behind the green of the down-hill 18th fairway - a 550+yd par 5. The gallery watching over as we came down the fairway was a nice touch. Slightly pricey and way too far from my home - I only play here a couple times a season, but its always fun and worth the price (and drive).
PS. the star ratings on this site don't seem to work properly. I give 5 stars.

I played this course from the Blues, I thought that it was alot of fun, challenging but fair. For me, one of the best parts was having a cigar in the chairs on the porch overlooking the 18th hole after my round, the food is pretty good too, the drink prices were really resonable. So overall it was a 5 star experiance for me.

CT National is a really nice course. Great layout, very pleasing to the eye. Some quirky holes having only played it once. Greens were in great shape after only being aerated about 2 weeks ago. Some greens had major slpoe to them which was difficult to see from the fairway so good approach shots often did not wind up so great. Strangely putts didnt break much even with some tough pin placements. All putts rolled very true and the greens are definitley the strength of the course. We played from the blues; the tips woud be a nightmare, especially with the prevailing wind. Unfortunatley getting stuck behind the pro and his cronies made play agonizing slow, despite the fact they played from the white tees! The cart girl has absolutley NO clue, driving up the fairway once and two other times up the cart path as we were addressing the ball to hit. That couldnt have been more irritating. Great deal with or without a cart after 1pm. The real slow play thing did detract form the overall experience.

The new owner and his staff know how to run a first class operation. Affordable golf, great layout, outstanding maintenance, along with good food. Just what golfers are looking for. If you are not a single diget golfer, move up a tee. The course will be easier the more times you play this track. Although the course is not on the ocean, it has a links feel to it. The 6th hole is a 600 yard, three shot hole, and the 10th hole is a challenging tee shot from the back tees. Good luck. I'm sure you'll have a lot to talk about, after your round!
