Monday October 1, 2012. We went to Mohegan Sun last week just before the rain. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. It's a nice layout. Some funky holes. Two par fives where you have to hit 9 iron and then wedge to the green if you cant hit it 275 off the tee. New holes are tough and the greens are ridiculous with the pin placements. The fescue is incredibly thick and why are there sprinklers in the fescue?!!! You cant play out of it unless you want to risk an injury. You're better off to hit the ball 15 yds off the fairway as the rough is 5 to 6 inches thick up to 3 ft off the fairway. The group in front of us spent alot of time looking for balls in the fescue which made the round way too long. The gnats were oppressive which made the whole round totally unenjoyable. I would think that if the course wasnt so soggy the breading environment for those things would be reduced but what do I know? Unfortunately for us the greens had just been punched and there wasnt any sand in at least half of them. I have to agree with the other review that the superintendant is missing the boat.If we hadnt been comped by the casino $125 to play would have been a joke. All in all it's aestetically pleasing to the eye but no way would we go back.

A nice golf course, but not great. I stayed at Mohegan Sun Hotel and to get to this course was ridiculous. A major hotel/casino buying a golf course 30 minutes away hidden in the boonies of the farms of CT is just stupid. Yes, it was a nice ride getting there; the people were nice, but why so far away? I'm sure this GC that was going defunct was happy to have Mohegan buy it and save it, but come on, it's like playing an upscale muni course. Well-kept, the rough is extremely thick and getting in the fescue will penalize you severely. The saving grace of this course are the pro-greens. All the greens slope toward the fairway so, keeping the ball short and/or below the hole, gives you a shot at birdie or par. The greenskeeper must be inexperienced though. On certain greens, holes were placed on top of mounds where missing the hole on a putt, can put your ball off the green. Overall a fun course and Mohegan advertises it for group events and for that, it's great. As a course which deserves the name Mohegan Sun, it is lacking and TOO FAR AWAY!
