I have played in all regions of California. This is a golden gem. It is total mad max welfare state outside the fence of Jurassic Park but inside if you make it alive is pristine. Best greens anywhere in California. Perfect! Fairways ideal and holes a great shot selection. Great pub bar to hangout and chat with friends. Never take your wife. A man's man club. Old school. That is the vibe and culture. Great golfers come here and always good competition for players with a sub 8 handicap. If you hack stay out of this club. If you whine stay out off this course. No excuses just old school Bobby Jones style.

On vaccation from Scotland for 3 days in San Francisco and I was so looking forward to my first ever round of golf in the US. checked out the courses in SF before id left and thought Gleneagles would be ideal. Arrived really early one morning,course looked great, sun was shining, but was then "greeted" !.... by a totally ignorant and rude member of staff. "No rentals" he shouted before walking off, before i even step out my car. Id come far so thought Id at least take a look at clubhouse, but came across someone totally un-interested, bad mannered, and very abrupt when i dare suggest would it be possible to even hire or borrow 3 clubs just to get a game on what was at that time a completly empty golf course. I going nowhere near this place again.
