Titleist TS1 Driver Review
When Titleist unveiled its TS Series drivers in late 2018, the top objective was right there in the name – speed. The Titleist Speed, or more commonly known TS, drivers are engineered from the crown to the shaft to optimize the golfer's swing speed.
The TS Series drivers went on to become a top choice among professional golfers, with Titleist claiming they were the most played driver model in the 2019 PGA Tour season. Many Tour golfers have since moved on to the Titleist TSi2 and TSi3 drivers, which were released in late 2020, but some golfers still prefer the original design.
How is the TS1 Different from the Other TS Series Drivers?
Despite the number in its name, the TS1 was the last of the TS drivers to make its debut. When the TS1 was released in June 2019, the TS2, TS3 and TS4 drivers were already gaining in popularity in the golf world. So, what makes the TS1 different?
The TS1 is designed specifically for golfers with a moderate speed swing of 85 mph or below and an average drive distance of 220 yards or less. The target is the same as the Tour golfers using the TS3 – ideal launch and maximum distance.
Depending on the shaft, the TS1 is 45 grams lighter than the TS2 model, including an eight-gram difference in the club head. The lighter weight allows for a faster swing speed.
What Golfers Should Use the TS1 Driver?
Because of its lighter weight, the Titleist TS1 is a great choice for seniors, women, juniors or anyone with a slow or moderate swing speed. The club offers the best of both worlds – distance with an effortless swing.
The Same TS Look and Feel
Titleist was able to keep many of the popular features of the earlier released TS drivers in the TS1 driver. Four components make up the Titleist Speed Chassis in the TS1.
- Thin Titanium Crown – The crown is 20 percent thinner in the TS1 than in the 917 drivers, the TS Series predecessor. Weight is shifted lower and deeper.
- Thinner, Faster Face – Upon release, the TS driver redesigned face was the fastest Titleist had ever made. The thinner face is not only fast, it's forgiving.
- Streamlined Shape – The sleek design allows the clubhead to travel faster and your shots further.
- Optimized Weight Distribution – The club has a lower center of gravity (CG) than previous Titleist drivers and the result is higher launch and lower spin.
Shaft Options for the TS1

Titleist SureFit Hosel
Each TS1 comes with Titleist's patented SureFit Hosel which offers 16 independent loft and lie settings. The hosel features a ring and a sleeve; the ring has four settings marked A, B, C, D and the sleeve has four settings marked 1, 2, 3, 4. Easily adjust the hosel to the setting that is right for you.

How Much Does the TS1 Cost?
The TS1 is an affordable premium club when compared to similar drivers. As of January 2021, the TS1 is priced around $349, about $200 below the newer TSi drivers.
