TaylorMade SIM2 Rescue, SIM2 Max Rescue Review

There are a few signature features that you will recognize from the SIM2 fairway woods line. While the clubs look quite different, golfers who like the feel of the fairway woods will also likely appreciate the hybrid clubs.

• V Steel Technology – The V Steel sole shape raises the toe and the heel so less sole area touches the ground. A swing of a club with a V Steel sole cuts through the grass, even in the rough. To remedy the problem of high CG and more ball spin that is created by raising the toe and the heel, TaylorMade has adjusted the weight for lower CG.
• C300 Steel Face – Both the SIM2 and SIM2 Max rescue clubs have a C300 steel face. The high-strength face provides explosive ball speeds at impact.
• Twist Face – You’ll find Twist Face technology on many of TaylorMade’s clubs. The corrective face curvature straightens your shot, even on mishits.

You’ll notice right away that the SIM2 rescue club has a different look than hybrids that have come before it. As a matter of fact, the SIM2 rescue doesn’t resemble the SIM2 Max hybrid much either.

The club has a noticeably smaller head, with a wider sole than the top creating an ironlike profile, creating a true bridge between hybrid and iron. Distance and forgiveness of a hybrid? Check. Workability and control of an iron? Check there, too. The compact head is often preferred by low handicap golfers because it performs with the workability of an iron without sacrificing distance. Expect a low launch and higher spin trajectory with the SIM2 rescue.

The SIM2 rescue club is available in 2, 3 and 4 lofts.

The SIM2 Max rescue club has a similar look to its predecessor, the SIM Max rescue club. You will notice a slightly more squared off shape on the sole which helps the club be a little more forgiving. SIM2 Max rescue has a high launch and low spin that is typical of traditional hybrid clubs.

Since the hybrid clubs were just recently released it’s too soon to tell which golfers will add them to their bag. The previous model, the SIM Max, was very popular on the Tour. Reigning Masters champion Dustin Johnson would sometimes have two SIM Max rescue clubs in his bag, including when he won the 2020 Traveler’s Championship with the SIM Max 19- and 22-degree clubs
