Callaway ERC Soft Golf Balls
With a new hybrid cover that delivers on distance and feel, Callaway ERC Soft golf balls are a great option for amateur golfers looking to improve their score.
How Did the ERC Get Its Name?
The ERC Soft golf ball is named after the Callaway founder, Ely Reeves Callaway; you'll notice the ERC are actually the namesake's initials. Callaway’s philosophy from the time he started the company in the early 80s until his death in 2001 was the same – create products that are “pleasingly different and demonstrably superior.”
Through extensive research and development of its products, Callaway has done just that. The ERC Soft golf ball is no exception.
The ERC Soft Has a New Hybrid Cover
Callaway touts the ERC Soft golf ball as being its longest ball with a soft feel. The hybrid cover is made with Paraloid Impact Modifier, which gives the ball a high-launch at impact, low spin for more distance and excellent durability. Callaway collaborated with the Dow Chemical Company to create the multi-material cover, the first of its kind.
The cover is what gives the ERC Soft excellent greenside control so your short game won’t be sacrificed in order to get more distance on your shots.
Construction of the ERC Soft Golf Ball
The ERC Soft ball is similar to another Callaway ball, the popular (and much pricier) Chrome Soft X golf ball. Both balls are geared towards increased distance with a soft feel, but one notable difference is the construction. The Chrome Soft X is a four-piece ball with two mantles; the ERC Soft golf ball has three-piece construction that includes a High Energy core that increases ball speed, not only off the tee, but with any club in your bag.
The core works with the High Speed mantle for maximum ball speed on every shot, made possible by the efficient energy exchange between the layers.
Triple Track Technology for Better Putting
The ERC Soft golf ball comes in your choice of white or yellow. Both colors feature Callaway’s Triple Track alignment markings which allow for assistance in putting. Given the markings, the balls pair nicely with Odyssey Triple Track putter.
Who is the ERC Soft Golf Ball Designed For?
The Callaway ERC Soft golf ball is best suited for average golfers who want distance and feel and who tend to play straight shots. Golfers who cut and shape their shots might prefer a more premium ball like the Chrome Soft. Professional golfers also tend to favor balls with more spin around the green, but the ERC Soft provides ample spin for amateur golfers.
How Much Does the ERC Soft Golf Ball Cost?
The Callaway ERC Soft golf ball retails for $34.99 per dozen, a moderate price when compared to other golf balls by top manufacturers. Other versions of the ball – the ERC Supersoft and ERC Supersoft Max – retail for just $22.99 per dozen and come in more colors including white, yellow, green, pink, red and orange.
