Callaway Chrome Tour is the softer-feeling, balanced-flight half of the redesigned Chrome Tour lineup. It’s a four-piece, urethane-covered ball built around Callaway's new Tour Fast Mantle, positioned as the all-around option between the firmer, more workable Chrome Tour X and the feel-focused Chrome Soft.
We tested Chrome Tour using our standard golf ball testing protocols to find out which types of players are most likely to reap Chrome Tour’s full performance benefits. Here’s what we learned.
How We Tested the Callaway Chrome Tour
We put the Callaway Chrome Tour through our published golf ball testing protocols using the SkyTrak ST Max launch monitor. That means human swings under strict bands for swing speed, impact quality, and delivery dynamics.
To see performance from tee to green, we test driver, 7-iron, and 50-yard wedge shots with each ball.
We tested 43 golf balls in total for 2026 then translated the raw data into 1-10 scores in the categories that matter most to your game. That lets you easily see how each ball stacks up to the field.

Callaway Chrome Tour Specs, Pricing & Performance
One word to describe Chrome Tour’s ball flight? I'm picking neutral. Chrome Tour displayed a mid-spin, mid-launch driver profile in our test, dropping to mid-spin, low-launch through the 7-iron and mid-spin, mid-launch from 50 yards.
That's fairly controlled throughout the bag and it agrees with Chrome Tour’s positioning as the softer option in Callaway's Chrome Tour lineup compared to the distance-first Chrome Tour X.
Shot | Spin | Launch |
Driver | Mid | Mid |
7-Iron | Mid | Low |
50-Yard | Mid | Mid |
Distance: 7.3/10
Chrome Tour didn’t dominate in our distance test, although most players shopping for a tour ball aren’t relying on their ball to squeeze out extra yardage. It totaled 240.6 yards from 136.6 mph ball speed, both a shade below our full field's average, with a 13.9-degree launch and 22.3-yard apex.
Interestingly, Chrome Tour produced 1.3 yards more carry distance than its firmer Chrome Tour X sibling in our test. Chrome Tour X's total-distance edge came from extra rollout thanks to a lower, flatter flight, not from carrying the ball farther in the air.
If a soft, tour-quality feel with a competitive carry capabilities is more important to you than chasing total yardage through more rollout, then Chrome Tour delivers.

Stopping Power: 7.4/10
Chrome Tour finished right around the middle of the field in our stopping power test. It rolled out an average of 10.4 yards with a 41.0-degree descent angle and 23.0-yard apex.
Nothing about those results stands out in either direction. It’s just a ball built for balance rather than one specific standout trait. If you play courses with firm, fast greens that punish extra rollout, there are sharper options in our test. If you play softer courses, or ones that offer the option to run approach shots into the green, this performance won't cost on the course.

Wedge Control: 8.7/10
Wedge control is one of Chrome Tour’s strengths. It produced 6,917 RPM of 50-yard spin and stopped just 2.1 yards from where it landed, one of the top-10 results of any ball we tested.
Around the greens, Chrome Tour is tough to beat. Whatever ground it gives up off the tee, it gains some of it back with the scoring clubs.

Accuracy: 7.9/10
With the 7-iron, Chrome Tour was one of the best performers in our entire test. With the driver, it finished near the bottom of the field.
If your scoring depends on how much you can control iron shots into the green, Chrome Tour demonstrated that it’s about as good as it gets in our entire test. If your misses tend to come off the tee, don’t expect Chrome Tour to bail you out.

Value: 5.8/10
Chrome Tour's value score of 5.8 reflects its $57 per dozen price – one of the priciest balls in our entire field – and a performance profile didn’t generate the numbers to separate itself in our test.
The case for dropping $57 a dozen doesn’t come down to numbers. It comes down to fit and feel. If you've tried Chrome Tour X and found it too firm, or you specifically want that soft, all-around Callaway feel with tour credibility, that's worth paying for.
If you're shopping solely on the numbers, there are better values to be had.
Who Is Callaway Chrome Tour For?
Chrome Tour is for the player who wants a soft-feeling, balanced tour ball and prioritizes iron accuracy over driver distance or dispersion. Our test found Chrome Tour to be one of the best in the approach game that we've measured, wrapped in an otherwise middle-of-the-pack ball.
If you're shopping purely on distance or looking for a bargain, then our data doesn’t point to Chrome Tour. But if you already trust your swing off the tee and want a ball that rewards precise iron play, Chrome Tour's data backs up that specific strength.
