The Most Forgiving Putters for High Handicappers of 2025
Want better distance control and straighter putts? These are the most forgiving putters we can find.

Putters come in all shapes and sizes, which makes finding best putter for your game difficult. For mid and higher-handicap golfers, the top priority should be to find the most forgiving putter. To take the next step to a lower handicap, cutting down on putts is critical.
Forgiveness in a putter can mean a few things. Off-center strikes can roll closer to your intended line and go closer to your intended distance with more forgiving putters. The emergence of zero torque putters over the last couple of years might not qualify as forgiveness per se, but those putters are easier to hit on line, and any putter that makes putting easier is a good thing for high or mid-handicap golfers.
If you’re a high-handicap player looking for forgiveness from your flat stick, these eight putters can help.
LAB OZ.1

PGA TOUR SUPERSTORECHECK AMAZON
Typical Price: $449
Forgiving Feature: Lie angle balanced, zero torque profile
We’re expanding the definition of forgiveness in putters beyond the traditional MOI measurement because the emerging zero torque putters are straight up easy to use. LAB is no doubt the king of the category, and these putters are precisely engineered to stay square to your path during the stroke. That means that as long as your path is pointed towards your target line at impact, you’re going to hit a quality putt.
LAB’s putter designs are becoming increasingly attractive, and the latest LAB release, this OZ.1, just might be the sleekest yet. With design input from Adam Scott, the half-moon shape is appealing to a lot of players, and the option to roll with an all aluminum head or opt for the stainless steel insert that gives a firmer feel and a slightly hotter face, is a first for LAB.
It’s safe to say that even though LAB is at the top of the zero torque putter category, it’s still pushing the envelope for improved design and performance, which is great news for golfers of all abilities.
Evnroll ER11vx

PGA TOUR SUPERSTOREFIND ON AMAZON
Typical Price: $319
Forgiving Feature: High MOI; SweetFace grooves for consistent distances across the face
There are two big reasons this Evnroll ER11vx is not just on this list, but near the top of it.
Let’s start with Evnroll’s signature technology, the feature that ensures the brand lives up to its name. That’s the SweetFace grooves that Evnroll puts on every one of its putters. The grooves get progressively narrower away from the center of the face, which increases energy transfer on off-center strikes, resulting in consistent distances whether you hit or miss the center.
Now that’s more of the traditional performance benefits we typically associate with forgiveness in a putter.
Beyond the forgiving face found on any Evnroll putter, this full-sized mallet is an extreme MOI design, with weight distributed strategically to maximize forgiveness. The head almost resembles the iconic Spider shape from TaylorMade (more on that shortly) but with Evnroll’s face technology, which is an appealing combination.
PING Tomcat

PGA TOUR SUPERSTORE
Typical Price: $199
Forgiving Feature: Extreme MOI, low & rear CG
It’s true that PING is responsible for perhaps the most influential putter design of all time, and it’s not this Tomcat putter. But for players asking which PING putter offers maximum forgiveness, Tomcat is the only answer.
With all that negative space in this head, you can literally see the forgiveness this putter delivers. The head is a combination of aluminum and stainless steel, which allowed PING engineers to put the weight where they wanted it most.
The face is milled to create a firm feel and slightly faster ball speeds.
Priced at around $199, this putter is as forgiving on the wallet as it is on the greens.
Cleveland Frontline Elite

SHOP CLEVELANDFIND ON AMAZON
Typical Price: $199
Forgiving Feature: Tungsten face brings weight forward to keep mis-hits closer to intended line
Cleveland did something a little counterintuitive to create forgiveness in its Frontline putters, including the latest release in the series, the Frontline Elite. It brought weight forward rather than pushing it to the rear – hence the Frontline name.
The insert in the Frontline Elite putters is tungsten, a heavier material that moves the CG closer to the face.
The logic is that when you strike a putt off-center, the head twists around the CG. When the CG is closer to the face, the arc that the head twists around is smaller than when the CG is pushed all the way back. That results in the putter head delivering less off-center force to the ball, keeping it on the right line much longer.
Frontline Elite putters are available in a few shapes, including a blade, traditional mallet, and fang.
Odyssey Square 2 Square Jailbird

PGA TOUR SUPERSTOREFIND ON AMAZON
Typical Price: $299
Forgiving Feature: Zero torque profile to easily hit intended lines
By many metrics, Odyssey is the top putter brand out there, and now that the putter giant has released a modern zero torque putter, pros and amateurs alike have even more reason to put one in the bag.
The Square 2 Square line of Odyssey Ai-One putters has three heads, and this Jailbird mallet is our favorite for all-around forgiveness. Beyond the zero torque profile, which we’ve already discussed, this mallet-style putter also has Odyssey’s Ai-One insert, which takes a different approach – a variable face thickness – to deliver consistent ball speeds across the face.
Add in Odyssey’s Jailbird design, which serves as a visual cue to assist with keeping the putter head square, and it’s no surprise that this is one of the most popular new putters out there.
TaylorMade Spider

PGA TOUR SUPERSTOREFIND ON AMAZON
Typical Price: $249
Forgiving Feature: High MOI
The TaylorMade Spider debuted in 2008 and TaylorMade has stuck with the line in the nearly 20 years since. It’s hard to find any piece of golf equipment with that sort of longevity, which is a testament to just how good this putter is.
The lightweight core and heavy frame create a high MOI head that resists twisting on off-center strikes, helping all putts roll straighter, tightening dispersion which leads to more makes and fewer three-putts. Isn’t that what we all want on the greens?
TaylorMade’s Pure Roll insert is also designed to get the ball rolling quicker, instead of skidding off the face, which helps improve distance control.
Remember when people wondered how good Scottie Scheffler could be if he just started making some putts? When he switched to a TaylorMade Spider putter – albeit a slightly different version than you can buy in retail – we all found out.
Cobra Stingray Vintage

PGA TOUR SUPERSTOREFIND ON AMAZON
Typical Price: $249
Forgiving Feature: Descending Loft Face technology for consistent roll whether you hit it high or low on the face
There’s one sneaky element to Cobra putters that I think more people should know about: Descending Loft Technology. It essentially guarantees that whether you hit a putt off the bottom of the face, the top of the face, or right in the center, you’ll get a consistent roll. It’s a great feature for any player, and can really help high-handicap players gain some confidence on the greens.
That face, with four degrees of loft at the top which progressively drops to just one degree at the bottom, is just one reason to love the Stingray Vintage putter from Cobra. The modern mallet shape, which blends sharp and rounded lines and offers a high-contrast alignment line, is easy on the eyes and easy to point at the target.
If you’re shopping for a putter, you could do a lot worse for $249.
PXG Blackhawk
SHOP PXG
Typical Price: $299
Forgiving Feature: S COR polymer for consistent roll across the face
PXG’s pivot towards beginners and higher-handicap players – in both performance and price – is a welcomed evolution.
The Blackhaw is PXG’s latest putter, and with an S COR polymer behind the face, it’s designed to – and stop us if you’ve heard this before – produce a consistent distance from the center, toe, or heel.
I don’t think even high handicappers will have too much of a problem missing the center of this putter though. The head is easy to align with the silver track splitting, adorned with a black alignment line, splitting the black head.
If you do happen to miss – or if you chip it close and your partners are tired of watching you drain putts – the Pick-Up Pocket underneath is a nifty tool and also helps redistribute weight to the perimeter of the head.
Always Ask For Forgiveness
Forgiveness in putters can mean a few things. It can mean better distance control by keeping ball speeds consistent across the face. It can mean better accuracy by not pushing balls far off the intended line, and it can mean a consistent roll regardless of strike.
Maybe zero torque putters don’t fall into the traditional forgiveness category, but I consider any putter that’s easy to hit straight a forgiving putter. Afterall, those putters make it easy to make a good stroke.
When you consider it all, there are plenty of forgiving putters that are great options for high-handicap players, but you’ll notice that many of these putters are in the bags of the top professionals in the world. That’s a sign that putting is hard, and we can all use all the help we can get.
