Great course very difficult beautiful scenery
Nags Head is an 18 hole course that meanders through the Nags Head Village development right on the Roanoke Sound. The course is very well maintained – greens and tee boxes were in great condition. The only problem on the day we played is that three of the greens were heavily damaged by flooding from Hurricane Irene and temporary greens were in effect for those three holes. The course has four sets of tees, ranging from 4,400 yards to 6,100 yards. Don’t let the distance fool you. If you are a 20 handicap like me, do not play from the back tees. You will not be able to carry the many holes with water in play. It was very windy on the day we played which made the holes into the wind much, much harder than they look on the scorecard.Cost was $45 with cart for a winter round - not bad - a good value. I believe it is much more expensive in the summertime.Nice restaurant that seems to draw a regular lunch crowd. Friendly pro shop staff. In summary, a recommended course if you are in the area. The greens that were damaged appear to be well on their way to recovery.
Wow!! Great place, absolutely fantastic place to play. Probably should have gone earlier in the week, rather than after 4 days at the beach and a long drive...(scores reflect that) but certainly my all time favorite place to play. Will make this my golf stop every year that I come to outer banks. Greens have improved significantly (per staff) and fairways are beautiful. I didn't mind the cost (for the scenery its well worth it). Food was awesome. (chicken salad sandwich was great, beer was cold). People were polite and laid back.
