Major upgrade to course conditions since 2021. Nice greens and fairways. Easy walk. Never too crowded. Driving range and two putting greens. Good food and cold beer at reasonable prices

This is a joint military base and of course a small 9 hole is available for play. Active, Reserve, Retired and all veterans are warmly welcomed. That said, this course is not that long and reasonably priced. One of the other reviews noted this “course is great to walk because it is flat and no water hazards”, factually correct and another note is the wooded areas are open enough to find an errand ball.

The fairways are wide in some areas and now comes the icky part. I was not impressed with the condition of the course in the fall, again, for the price, it is not bad and you get what you pay for. The fairways are dry as a bone and dirt/sand patches abound. The short approaches have proper grass and the greens see lots of water and trimming (tad hairy not bad). The sand traps are off the charts awful, grass filled and not trimmed, actually some of the sand didn’t look bad, one trap in particular looked like ten miles of bad gravel road and rather ruinous to the face of a club i.e. very large pebbles/rocks in the traps.

If the ball goes in the woods you can find it. However; as noted by another review, I did not experience the Cape winds and rain, this particular trip was sunny and HOT, HOT, HOT i.e. surface of the Sun HOT. Beer and refreshments are cheap beyond measure and easy to stock yourself up.

So, with that said, this particular course from the white tees is not hard at all and actually fun and pretty easy and straight forward. Read the other review regarding the yardages and markers for Whites vs. Blues, you will see a different course from the Blues.

No matter what your game looks like, you can have a good time here with advanced or limited abilities. I’ll yack about the MWR snack bar a little bit. This place is a hoot and the bar tender’s have fun with the customers, I was laughing the entire time listening to those cats, I had a brilliant time having an awesome Egg Salad sammy and plenty of beer.

Oh, one other item I was debating about mentioning was one of the managers in the Pro Shop, this could entirely be me and I might have rubbed him the wrong way, however; I came away thinking this dude needs to either retire to Florida or chase his wife around a little more and drink more Wine or take up crocheting.

Look, I liked the place just fine and if I have a chance I’ll shoot it again, I am rating the course a 2.5 stars out of 5 because the grounds were really needing some water and attention to detail especially the Tee Boxe areas (insert sad face here). Plus the Pro Shop manager was a little too pissy for my taste, other than that, the Greens Fee’s were cheap along with great company and good food at the Snack Bar. I actually would like to give the overall experience a three star. Matter of fact, the prices of the Pro Shop stock was full serviced, rather nice and well rounded for different levels of golf abilities (i.e. improvement clubs to advanced players).

Don’t hesitate to shoot this course if you have a chance.
