Are Payntr X 005 F Golf Shoes Comfortable?

We mentioned this already, but Payntr has a reputation for making superbly comfortable golf shoes, and the X 005 F certainly fits that bill. Straight out of the box, these shoes feel great on your feet.

Payntr used its PMX Nitro+ Foam midsole and Nitro Footbed cushioning in the X 005 F, which combine to provide soft comfort under your foot. Meanwhile, its Clarino Trivela microfiber upper and PMX Fit Heel counter keep the upper part of your feet comfortable throughout your round.

These shoes are not only comfortable on your feet, but they’re lightweight as well, which is part of what makes them great for walking. They won’t bog your feet down like some heavier shoes will. You might not notice that immediately, but after walking 18 holes in a lightweight shoe like the X 005 F, your feet – and your whole body – will feel much better than when you trek the course in a heavier, spiked shoe.

Payntr X 005 F Traction & Stability

The spikelss TPU outsole is one of the most aggressive outsoles that I’ve seen or tested on a spikeless golf shoe.

In my opinion, the single area where golf shoes as a whole have evolved the most in recent years is the traction you can get from spikeless golf shoes. That evolution means that unless you really want a pair of spiked golf shoes, you really don’t need them. This is another area where Payntr’s X 005 F shines.

Playing early spring golf in these spikeless golf shoes, I felt connected to the ground and completely balanced, never slipping, sliding, or losing that vital connection.

The spikelss TPU outsole is one of the most aggressive outsoles – from a tread and traction standpoint – that I’ve seen or tested on a spikeless golf shoe. That gives me plenty of confidence that these shoes are excellent in most conditions, as opposed to some modern golf shoes that lean more into the all-day comfort category, in exchange for some traction on the course.

The biggest drawback I’ve found with these shoes is that Payntr won’t give them a waterproof rating. Payntr does offer a 90-day craftsmanship warranty with every shoe it sells, which covers all performance or quality issues, including the Neverwet protection.

These aren’t the first Payntr golf shoes I’ve tested, and I have plenty of confidence in Payntr’s Neverwet protection, but if I’m buying a singular pair of golf shoes that I expect to last multiple seasons of mostly walking, I’m looking for something with a 2-year waterproof warranty, or at the very least one year.

If I’m being honest, that’s not too difficult to find these days, which is why, combined with the fact that my feet have never gotten wet while wearing Payntr shoes, I’m surprised these shoes don’t have some sort of a waterproof warranty. Instead, Payntr stops at water-resistant.

Style: Payntr X 005 F and Beyond

Most golfers who keep an ear to the ground probably first heard of Payntr golf shoes in the last couple of years. Those who didn’t however, likely noticed in early 2024 that Jason Day – the former No.1 player in the world – took an equity stake in Payntr Golf.

Day, who is also a frontman for golf fashion brand Malbon, is known to incorporate style and fashion into his golf wardrobe.

Yes, Payntr golf shoes have a distinct style that is easy on the eyes and most people could incorporate into their golf attire. The X 005 F golf shoes, with their mostly white body, blue heel and green accents, easily fit into that category. The addition of Day, however, brings the prospect of Payntr expanding its aesthetic in the near future.

Step by Step

Payntr has only been in the golf shoe space for a few short years. In that time, the brand has built a strong reputation as an elite golf shoe for walking. In my experience with the Payntr X 005 F, as well as other Payntr golf shoes, I can confirm that they are indeed a great option for walking golfers all the way around.

Despite my complaint that you don’t get the confidence that comes with a waterproof warranty, these Payntr golf shoes easily offer enough protection to keep your feet dry in most golf conditions, and give you comfort and performance in a lightweight package that will keep you feeling fresh after your round.
